Porter Cake

Ingredients:

1 lb flour
4 eggs
1/2 lb butter
1/2 lb raisins
1/2 lb sultanas
1/2 lb currants
1/4 lb peel
1/2 lb demarara sugar
1/2 teaspoon spice
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
rind of 2 lemon
1/2 cupful porter

Method:

Cream the butter and sugar. Add the unbeaten eggs and flour alternately. When the eggs are used up add the porter. Add bread soda and spice with the last lot of flour. Beat until it stands up.
